Ginger, Turmeric and Lemon Detoxifying Tea

You know that feeling you get right before you get sick? It’s like, you know you’re going to get sick, but your not quite there yet. I call it the “pre-sick symptoms.”

My friends and family tell me that my “pre-sick symptoms” are all in my head but I haven’t been proven wrong yet! Maybe I’m just a little more in-tune with my body? I also know the triggers that lead to my getting sick…it’s usually a fatal combination of stress, lack of sleep and of course germ exposure.

When I start to get that pre-sick vibe I have my very own pre-sick ritual. It involves comfy sweats, hydration and this detox tea. This recipe is super easy and tastes pretty good too. You can totally use it for detoxing from a hangover, accidentally eating gluten or just drink it because its good for you.

The name is pretty self explanatory, but here is how you make this super simple but powerful ginger, turmeric and lemon detoxifying tea:

Ingredients

2 cups water

1 tbsp honey (optional)

1 tsp turmeric

1 tsp fresh ginger, thinly sliced

1/2 fresh juiced lemon

Directions

Bring the water, ginger and turmeric to a boil. Reduce to medium-low heat and let simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the tea into a mug and stir in lemon juice and honey. Serve hot or over ice.

We can all benefit by slowing down and listening to our bodies a little more closely especially once cold and flu season kicks in.
